Sustainable Success Nudge from Your Future Self
💬 “Alignment isn’t just about what’s right. It’s also about when.”
Something can be meant for you… and still not be meant for this moment.
Hi Melinda,
One of the replies I received this week asked such a beautiful question that I realized it deserves more than a quick answer. So over the next few weeks, I want to take us deeper into this conversation around timing and alignment of an opportunity.
The question was:
“How do I know when the timing is right?”
The person shared that they often know in their bones something is aligned. Maybe it’s a program, an opportunity, a certification, a next step…
But when they try to move toward it, it creates strain, pressure and force.
And they can feel themselves dropping into By Me trying to make it happen.
I think many of us have experienced this.
Because sometimes the issue isn’t whether something is right or aligned.
It’s whether it’s aligned right now.
High performers (operating in By Me) often think:
“If it’s meant for me, I should make it happen.”
So they force timing often out of fear that if they don’t make it happen themselves, the opportunity will disappear, pass them by, or never come back around again. (This is very much By Me win/lose energy.)
But Through Me asks a different question:
“What happens if I stop pushing… and get curious to see what’s trying to reveal itself?”
And often, what’s revealing itself has less to do with the actual opportunity and more to do with timing.
Now here’s where this gets interesting.
To someone deeply operating in By Me (the “make it happen” person) allowing can look like lack of clarity. Pausing can look like not being committed. Getting curious can feel like derailing the project.
But that’s not necessarily true.
Someone operating Through Me can still have total clarity, be deeply committed, and remain incredibly focused on the desired outcome.
The difference is they use allowing, pausing, and curiosity as tools. (This is the win/learn energy of Through Me.)
They’ll use these tools to ensure that both what gets created and how they experience the journey remain aligned.
When this move happens, there is less panic, less force. You experience more flow, more trust, and more enjoyment in the process of creating what they deeply desire.
So if something feels deeply aligned, but also heavy, strained, or forceful right now…
Maybe the question isn’t: “Should I do this?”
Maybe the question is: “Is now the moment?”
There’s wisdom in that distinction.
With presence, Melinda
P.S. Stay tuned for next week’s nudge as just last week I experienced this exact situation firsthand in my own life and new business I’m launching. In the next email, I’ll share what happened, what it revealed, and how I navigated it in real time.
