Sustainable Success Nudge From Your Future Self

💬 "Start with what you have. Make it exquisite."

You don't need exquisite circumstances to create an exquisite experience.

Hi Melinda,

There's a phrase I've used for years:

"Good enough gets in the way of your greatness."

And I still believe that.

I've watched too many people settle for "good enough" because playing full out would require them to step into something uncomfortable, vulnerable, or unknown.

But lately, I've discovered another side to "good enough."

Sometimes...

good enough is exactly where you're supposed to begin.

When I started my Sound Healing Certification a few months ago, I began practicing in my living room. It made sense.

My altar had been there for years. It's where I meditated, journaled, contemplated, and played the handful of singing bowls I owned.

It already felt sacred to me. So as I began inviting people over for practice sessions, I simply made do with what I had.

A meditation mat on the floor tucked between the sofa and the piano.

A practitioner still learning protocols and occasionally feeling a little clunky.

A room that wasn't designed to be a sound healing studio.

It was good enough.

But here's what I didn’t allow to be just "good enough."

The experience I wanted people to have.

The interior designer in me had a blast thinking through every detail.

How the room felt.

What they saw when they walked in.

How they were welcomed.

How comfortable they were.

How cared for they felt.

I couldn't give them a perfect sound sanctuary.

But I could make what I had feel exquisite.

And something beautiful happened.

People started calling the room a "sanctuary."

They wanted to come back.

They began referring other people to me, sometimes before they'd even gotten off the meditation mat from their own session.

I didn't have to wait until I had the perfect space, or more bowls, or more experience, or until I felt like I'd mastered every protocol.

I created an exquisite experience with what I had, from where I was.

And it reminded me of something I think we sometimes forget.

"Good enough" can absolutely become an excuse for settling.

But it can also become the doorway to beginning.

The difference is the intention, passion, and commitment we bring to it.

So here's something I'd love for you to notice this week.

Where are you waiting for better circumstances before creating something extraordinary with what you already have?

Maybe you don't need more. Maybe what you already have simply needs more of you in it.

Your thoughtfulness, care, creativity, intention.

Start with what you have.

Make it exquisite.

With presence,
Melinda
